- CSfix v1.0
- ==========
-
- SYNOPSIS
- Allows ComicSetter (by Gold Disk) to run under OS 3.x.
- Should also work under OS 2.x, but I haven't tested that.
-
- DESCRIPTION
- ComicSetter has a bug which does not reveal itself under OS 1.3.
- The bug has to do with improper de-allocation and re-allocation
- of screen memory during SAVE. The symptom is that after a SAVE,
- the screen colours are all mixed up. This is usually followed
- very quickly by a system crash.
-
- CSfix patches the FreeMem() and AllocMem() calls and compensates
- for the bug.
-
- The complete source code is included.
-
- QUICK SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
- Drag the FixedComicSetter and CSfix icons to the drawer that
- contains your ComicSetter program. (If you're running ComicSetter
- from the original floppy, please make a backup first).
-
- Then double-click on the FixedComicSetter icon to start ComicSetter.
-
- NOTE: When run this way, ComicSetter will not create icons for
- the comics you create. If that bothers you, use the "explicit
- invocation from Workbench" method described below.
-
- EXPLICIT INVOCATION FROM WORKBENCH
- Before starting ComicSetter, double-click on the CSfix icon.
- A transient window displays a message confirming that CSfix
- has been installed. After exiting from ComicSetter, you may
- remove CSfix by double-clicking on its icon again. Leaving
- CSfix installed doesn't do any harm but may slow down your
- system a little.
-
- EXPLICIT INVOCATION FROM CLI
- At the CLI prompt type:
- Run CSfix install -- to install
- Run CSfix quit -- to remove
- Run CSfix -- to install, or remove if already installed.
-
- TESTING
- This is CSfix version 1.0 (January 1995). This is a beta release.
- It has been tested on an A4000/030 with OS 3.0 and ComicSetter 1.0A.
